LG G7 ThinQ coming with a 6.1 inch "Super Bright Display" at 1000 nits, New Second Screen and will consume 30% less power.

LG Electronics Inc. said Wednesday its upcoming flagship smartphone, the LG G7 ThinQ, set to be unveiled next month, will come with the brightest display in the industry.

The South Korean tech giant said the LG G7's "Super Bright Display" will come with brightness of a whopping 1,000 nits, a measure that refers to one candela per square meter. A higher figure indicates a brighter display.

LG said the average smartphone has a brightness of 500 to 600 nits, claiming users will enjoy its vivid 6.1-inch screen in any outdoor environment.

Concerning battery consumption, LG said the upcoming smartphone will consume 30 percent less power compared with the previous G6, hinting that users will be able to enjoy a "Super Bright Display" without being concerned about battery shortage.

The company said it also reduced the bezel of the G7 significantly compared with the G6 and added what it calls a "New Second Screen" at the top of the display, which will be similar to the notch design of U.S. tech giant Apple Inc.'s iPhone X. LG said the new feature marks an update from the second screen that was first adopted by the company in 2015.

Users will also customize how their smartphones display major colors, namely red, green and blue. They will also choose from various display modes for different content, including cinema, sports and games.

LG added the G7 display will combine the company's technology know-how gained both from TVs and smartphones.

The smartphone will be introduced in New York on May 2, followed by another launch event in Seoul the following day. The South Korean tech giant said the upcoming smartphone will become its first G model to come with "ThinQ" in its title, which is LG Electronics' AI vision that centers on "thinking from consumers' perspective."
