SAMSUNG Exynos 5430 Octa-core processor enabled by the world’s first 20nm process is Official.

Today SAMSUNG  offcialy launched the Exynos 5430 Octa-core processor enabled by the world’s first 20nm process.

Press Release:

Samsung’s new Exynos 5 Octa (5430) processor provides optimized performance for the most up-to-date smartphones and tablets based on its four powerful ARM® Cortex®-A15 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz. Built on Samsung’s state-of-the-art 20nm HKMG process technology, the processor is highly energy efficient, making it the first of its kind in the mobile application processor category. In addition to its low density process build, it also utilizes ARM’s big.LITTLE™ processing with HMP (Heterogeneous Multi-Processing) solution, meaning every process can efficiently use the processing power in such an intelligent way that no matter what application you are running, and your multitasking needs or demands, there’ll be no lags and ultimately no drastic power consumption.

Exynos Modem 303 & NFC Solution : Improved and versatile connectivity.

Along with the Exynos processor Samsung System LSI also provides connectivity solutions, to ensure that you can enjoy speedy smartphone features at anywhere you are. The connectivity solutions include LTE Advanced Cat 6, thanks to the Exynos Modem 303. This enables seamless data transfer and voice calls over LTE, (being able to transfer data at up to 300Mbps when downloading files, and 50Mbps when uploading data). The new modem also supports multiband and multimode, which means even when you are on a network that doesn’t support LTE or in an area with no LTE support, you can still dynamically switch to other legacy bands such as 2G and 3G.

Besides the data transfer rate, another challenge is how to develop a modem with efficient power consumption. Currently, when a smartphone is searching for the best signal at any given time and location, it consumes more power whether it finds a signal or not. The Exynos Modem 303 controls the power supply voltage for sending signal using the integrated ET (Envelope Tracking), efficiently deciding the power supply voltage by tracking signal level in real-time while optimizing it. It also uses APT (Average Power Tracking) to decide power requirement more efficiently by tracking the average level of signal output per times.

Samsung System LSI’s NFC is also available to the market for a two-way communication, consuming less power and the smallest footprint (Smallest Package Size) with boasting of RF performance.

Samsung CMOS Image Sensor : Enhanced Multimedia Experience
Another great feature that the Samsung can offer for today’s sophisticated mobile devices, is in the multimedia area. With the Samsung ISOCELL CMOS Image Sensor, your digital images will come out sharper than ever with natural colors.

When there is a need to enhance the image, maybe after taking a picture in a low lighting area, you can use features such as Smart WDR to bring out the blacks and colors in the image for better photography. Using the combination of Samsung CMOS Image Sensor and its Companion Chip, you have access to the PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus) feature that allows your camera to focus faster and accurately when taking portraits or capturing moving objects.

Today’s high-end smartphones are usually packed with two cameras, the main camera and the front facing camera. While it’s not surprising to have CIS on the main camera, Samsung have also included CIS on the front facing camera with a 1/8” Slim Full HD CMOS Image Sensor. With such a small lens size, the CIS provides great features such as Full HD images and video without compromising the image quality.

Richer end-user experience
With so many rich solutions packed into one, the ultimate goal for our solution is to continue to deliver rich technology that simplifies lives. The new Exynos 5430 coupled with a new Exynos Modem 303 offers a faster and reliable data connection, improves data transfer rates, better energy efficiency, camera technology that means better photography on your Exynos-powered smartphone, all without compromising the power consumption.
