Opus Interactive Selects HP Converged Infrastructure to Improve Data Center Efficiency

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 20, 2011

HP today announced that Opus Interactive, a Portland, Ore.-based managed service provider, has deployed HP Converged Infrastructure technology to improve data center efficiency and facilitate delivery of technology services to customers.

Opus Interactive provides managed hosting, dedicated virtual and standard servers, and data storage for a growing customer base. Maximizing utilization of server and storage resources while reducing customer costs were the driving factors in the company’s decision to replace its fragmented infrastructure.

Previously, the company had an abundance of physical servers and storage arrays that often sat idle, but still consumed significant power and cooling resources. This resulted in costly inefficiencies that made it difficult to pass savings on to its customers.

The new HP Converged Infrastructure at Opus Interactive includes HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN and HP ProLiant BL460c server blades integrated in an HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosure. By deploying HP P4000 iSCSI storage that leverages familiar networking infrastructure, Opus Interactive reduced capital and administrative costs.

Opus Interactive also deployed HP Insight Control and VMware vSphere, simplifying management with a consolidated infrastructure from a single vCenter management window.

“Our customers are looking for efficient, virtual solutions that can be implemented quickly and offer the option to incrementally scale storage on an as-needed basis,” said Jeremy Sherwood, vice president, Sales and Operations, Opus Interactive. “HP’s integrated server and storage solutions enabled us to run our infrastructure more efficiently and deliver the services our customers need to support their growing businesses.”

The HP Converged Infrastructure enabled Opus Interactive to:
  • Reduce costs and increase flexibility by allowing clients to add storage capacity as needed;
  • Improve efficiencies by increasing the number of virtual servers that can be provisioned without increasing power consumption; and
  • Ensure business protection and data availability by reducing application disruption and downtime.
HP Converged Infrastructure is a core component of an Instant-On Enterprise. In a world of continuous connectivity, the Instant-On Enterprise embeds technology in everything it does to serve customers, employees, partners and citizens with whatever they need, instantly.
HP’s premier client event, HP DISCOVER, takes place June 6 - 10 in Las Vegas and Nov. 29 - Dec. 1 in Vienna, Austria. The event showcases how organizations can get started on their Instant-On Enterprise journeys.
