WorldWideTech. Francisco De Jesús  October 30,2010

According to the Senior Product Manager for the Palm Pre 2, Timothy Pettitt , HP is going to sell directly from an unlocked (GSM) version to the public in the coming months.
In October 19,2010 HP made a Press release:
“HP introduces webOS 2.0 the Next Generation of Mobile Innovation.” And on the Availabilty section wrote:
“Developers will be able to purchase unlocked UMTS versions of Pre 2 in the United States to use as a canvas to build the next generation of webOS applications and services. More information about the purchase program will be available at “
If Timothy Pettitt is not referring to that HP announcementabout unlocked devices for developers and are really coming to the general public , those are great news, for travelers in and out the US.
The date and the price is not revealed yet.My guess is , it will be around the $400…

Acer: will announce tablets in New York event. Nov 23, 2010.

Acer plans to launch "multiple" tablet devices at an event in New York on Nov. 23, with different OSes and multiple form factors, the company's CEO said Friday.
The market has been waiting for version 3.0 of Google's Android mobile software for use in tablets, said Gianfranco Lanci, president and CEO of Acer, but he did not say whether Acer planned an Android tablet.
He is optimistic about tablet sales and forecast a market of 40 million to 50 million globally next year.

Eventually, he believes, Acer can take a 15 percent to 20 percent share of the tablet market.
With the rise of the tablet, sales of netbooks appear to be slowing down, but Lanci is not worried about the effect on sales of Acer's mini-laptops.

"The idea that the tablet will cannibalize the netbook, we don't see it, except in the U.S.," he said.

Acer also talked up a new app store it plans to launch, one store for all types of devi…

Smartphones: Top 5 worldwide market share 3Q 2010.-Chart

Francisco De Jesús, October 29,2010
According to IDC analysis this is the worldwide smartphones  market share to 3Q 2010. Apple really takes on RIM and goes an step up to the 4th position. Nokia stills number One. The surprise for me is that Samsung and LG with the Android OS are up of Apple and RIM.
Time to make a reflection on the mobile marketing strategy.
Press IDC Release:

The worldwide mobile phone market grew 14.6% in the third quarter of 2010 (3Q10), the fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth, driven in part by the fast-growing converged mobile device category. According to the International Data Corporation (IDCWorldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped 340.5 million units in 3Q10 compared to 297.1 million units in the third quarter of 2009.
The growing popularity of converged mobile devices, or smartphones, with consumers and businesspersons is evidenced by the appearance of a second smartphone-only vendor in the top 5 ranking. Apple moved into the num…

Samsung Nexus (Two) the next Google phone try to bring unlocked devices to the US.

Samsung Nexus (Two) the next  Google phone try to bring unlocked devices to the US.

Gizmodo  is reporting as confirmed the upcoming device and looks it will bring a front face camera as well.

"same 4-inch AMOLED affair from the Galaxy series, is flat, the front is "sort of concave" with hard edges. And the back is curved. The tapering makes it feel thinner than Galaxy S, though it might be about the same thickness. "It feels really similar to the Galaxy S in a lot ways."

The question is what is Google marketing strategy this time to insert unlocked devices to the market and not fail as they did with the Nexus One?

Adobe : Edge HTML5 animation tool preview video

Edge was demoed during the Adobe MAX 2010 keynote address by Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch and is described by Adobe Fellow Mark Anders in a video on Adobe TV , (see below) as an example of some of the concepts Adobe is looking at bringing into an actual tool sometime in the future. While it is relatively simple to create an animation with HTML5, it can be difficult to choreograph the movement and transformation of various elements of an animation so everything moves where you want it when you want it. It is the choreographing these various elements that Edge focuses on.

The Edge user interface will be familiar to Flash developers with a Stage window displaying the layout of the HTML5 page and a timeline window underneath showing the modifications to various elements over time. To the right of the stage is a Layers panel showing to identify DOM elements. Selecting a layer will display that layer’s properties in the property explorer, which also supports the new CSS transformations in 2D and 3D…

Cars 2011 : Nissan Juke crossover

Nissan’s all-new 2011 Nissan Juke crossover vehicle is expected to hit show floors in October. The dramatically styled Juke features a 1.6-liter direct injection gasoline (DIG) turbo, 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine that puts out more than 180 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.

The Juke’s all-wheel drive offers torque vectoring, which can split torque up to 50:50 between the front and rear wheels, or side-by-side across the rear axle. When corning, the torque vectoring AWD system helps reduce understeer and enhances the Juke’s corning experience. The Juke’s unique styling was derived from the Nissan Qazana concept, and  number of other influences including motorcycles and rally cars. The Juke will start at a base price of $18,960, and will be available starting next month (October 2010).
